Troupe stages Hollywood tribute
The Little Theatre of Fall River
Inc. will present a tribute to Hollywood through music that spans more
than 60 years of movie history. The revue "Blame It On the Movies" will be
presented at 8 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday, and July 19-21, and at 7 p.m.
Sunday and July 22.
All
performances will be at the air-conditioned Firebarn, Little Theatre's
home at Prospect Street and Highland Avenue in Fall River.
"Blame It On the Movies" takes a
look at the "reel" music of Hollywood. The revue is a fun-filled homage to
movie musicals, screwball comedies, shoot-'em-up westerns,
action-adventure flicks, historical epics and sizzling screen romances. It
features unforgettable songs such as "As Time Goes By," Alfie," "Rocky's
Theme," and "The Way We Were".
The production is staged and
musically directed by Jane Fiore Bigelow. Ms. Bigelow has been musical
director for dozens of Little Theatre shows, including "The Secret
Garden," "A Chorus Line," "Cabaret," "Falsettos," "The King and I" and
"Oliver!" Her Little Theatre directorial credits include "City of Angels"
and "Love Letters." She recently appeared at the Firebarn as Emma Goldman
in "Assassins" and Maggie in "The Shadow Box."
"Blame It On the Movies" stars Paul
Allard, Anthony DeRose, Cheryl Field, Maryann Goulart, Jen Harris,
Jessalyn Sadler, Cathy Taitz and Michael Xavier. Kathy Castro is the
production's stage manager, with assistance from Valerie Bain. Costumes
are by Fran Petisca. Additional choreography is by Jennifer Harris.
Single tickets are $12 for
"Blame It On the Movies." Discounts are available for students, seniors
and groups of 20 or more. For reservations and information, call the
Little Theatre box office at (508) 675-1852.
