Little Theater offers comedy with some life lessons

The Little Theatre of Fall River will present Ivan Menchell's Broadway comedy, "The Cemetery Club," as the group continues its 65th season. The show will be presented at 8 tonight through Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
All performances will be in the Margaret L. Jackson Arts Center at Bristol Community College, 777 Elsbree St., Fall River.

The show questions when grieving stops and living begins again. For three widows -- Doris, Ida and Lucille -- the answers are never, soon, and she never started.
Every month, three widows go together to visit the graves of their dear, departed husbands. Ida soon begins to feel that life still holds surprises in store for her: they arrive in the person of Sam, a lonely butcher. Doris insists that Ida hasn't mourned enough, and Lucille suggests she play the field. As they struggle to understand one another, the battles they wage are compassionate and funny.
The Little Theatre production is directed by Ralph Martin, whose Little Theatre directorial credits include "Annie," "Crimes of the Heart" and "Murder at the Howard Johnson's." The production is stage managed by Jean Mendes, with Kathy Castro assisting the stage manager.
"The Cemetery Club" stars Little Theatre favorites Deborah Sadler, Dee Kullander, Cathy Taitz and Jerry Goldberg. Laura Bombeck is also featured in the cast
Single tickets are $12 for "The Cemetery Club," with discounts available for students, seniors and groups of 20 or more.
