Little Theatre concludes summer productions with Graczyk play
Herald News Staff August 09, 2002
FALL RIVER -- The drama "Come Back to the Five & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean" concludes the Little Theatre's of Fall River's summer theater offerings. The production will be presented at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 to Saturday, Aug. 17 and Thursday, Aug. 22 to Saturday, Aug. 24 and at 7 p.m. Sundays, Aug. 18 and 25.
All performances will be at the air-conditioned Firebarn, Little Theatre's home, at the corner of Prospect Street and Highland Avenue.

The action of the Ed Graczyk play takes place on Sept. 30, 1975, at the Five & Dime in the small town of McCarthy, Texas. On this date, the members of the "Disciples of James Dean" gather to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the night in which James Dean died in an auto accident.

Through scenes in flashback, the characters relive the events of that fateful night in 1955 when the idol of their youth crashed his Porsche on a lonely stretch of California highway.

During the course of the evening, they each experience painful memories, revealing to themselves and to the group a secret pain and a secret strength hidden inside themselves.

The cast of "Come Back to the Five & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean" includes Martha Peladeau, Karen Robinson, Sarah Martin, Clare Blackmer, Lindsey Sturgeon, Gabe Dye, Tri Read, Kami Crary and Karen Valcourt.

The production is directed by James Robinson, with Bev Robinson as stage manager. The production features a set design by James Robinson, costumes by Fran Petisca and lighting by Ron Robinson.

Tickets are $10. Discounts are available for students, seniors and groups of 20 or more. For reservations or more information, call the Little Theatre box office at 508-675-1852.
