ONSTAGE Fuse is
lit for 'Miss Firecracker'
The
Little Theatre of Fall River raises the curtain tonight on its
production of Beth Henley's comedy, "The Miss Firecracker Contest."
Written by the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of "Crimes of the
Heart," "The Miss Firecracker Contest" takes place in a small
Mississippi town a few days before the Fourth of July. Carnelle
Scott is rehearsing furiously for the Miss Firecracker Contest,
hoping that a victory will salvage her tarnished reputation and
allow her to leave town in a blaze of glory. With the unexpected
arrival of her former beauty queen cousin and her brother – recently
released from a mental institution – Carnelle's efforts are
complicated. The production is directed by Joe Wallace, and features
Christina Wolfskehl, Karyn Valcourt, Stacy L. Cabral, David Faria,
Joseph Luca and Shandy Monte.
