will set your toes to tappin'
Little
Theatre of Fall River kicks off 2003 with a production of "Pump Boys
and Dinettes," a roadside musical tribute to the value of friendship
and life's simple pleasures. On Highway 57 -- somewhere between Frog
Level and Smyrna -- stands a gas station, with a roadside eatery,
the Double Cupp Diner, across the way. The four guys at the station
have been known to do some auto repairs, when aided by quantities of
time and beer. The Cupp sisters celebrate their home cooking with
the same zeal they bring to being neighborly with the boys. This
show, a hit on Broadway, serves up a sampling of country, rock,
western swing and folk music. The Cupp sisters will tempt you with a
second cup of coffee and a song, and the Pump Boys will serenade you
with numbers like "The Night Dolly Parton Was Almost Mine." Ron
Robinson directs, with music direction by Dennis Robinson.
