FALL RIVER -- The Little Theatre of
Fall River will continue its summer Firebarn subscription
season with the comedy "The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife."
This comedy by Charles Busch is a
hilarious story of a New York "culture vulture" on the verge
of a nervous breakdown.
Not making things any
easier for Marjorie Taub are her newly retired husband, Ira,
and her thoroughly impossible mother, Frieda.
Plunged
into a midlife crisis by the death of her therapist, Marjorie
is shaken out of her lethargy by the reappearance of a
fascinating and mysterious childhood friend, Lee. Lee’s
appearance takes the Taub family into an emotional
tailspin.
"The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife" was
nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play in 2000.
The
show stars Lorraine Lucciola, Robert Duquette, Nancy Leary,
Ann Flynn and Fernando Goulart.
The production is
directed by Stephen Kay, with Pat Taylor as its stage
manager.
"The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife" will be
staged at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 22 to 31, and
7 p.m. Sunday, July 25, and Aug. 1, at the Firebarn, corner of
Prospect Street and Highland Avenue. Tickets are $12, with
discounts available for students and seniors. For reservations
