This comedy by Charles Busch is a hilarious story of a New York “culture vulture” on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Not making things any easier for Marjorie Taub are her newly retired husband, Ira and her thoroughly impossible mother, Frieda. Plunged into a midlife crisis by the death of her therapist, Marjorie is shaken out of her lethargy by the reappearance of a fascinating and mysterious childhood friend, Lee. Lee’s appearance takes the Taub family into an emotional tailspin.
The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play in 2000.
