Geek. Poser. Jock. Beauty Queen. Wannabe. These are the labels that can last a lifetime. With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, (Parade, The Last Five Years, Bridges of Madison County) 13 is a musical about fitting in – and standing out!
Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents' divorce. Surrounded by an array of simpleminded middle school students, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!?
Composed of a precocious cast, no character in 13 is older than the show's title, making it wonderful for theatre companies that feature young artists. In the Broadway production, even the band was made up of teens, which is a fantastic way to involve a diverse group of artists. The cast is comprised entirely of teenagers, but the stories that come to life here are ageless, the emotions they explore timeless, the laughter and the memories they provide priceless.
Our
Story
At the Little Theatre of Fall River, we believe in nurturing the creative spirit of young talent in our community. We are excited to introduce our newest initiative designed to provide the youth of Fall River and the surrounding areas with a unique and enriching experience in the world of theater. Our first official production was Disney's The Lion King, Jr. in June 2023, under the direction of Jessalyn Sadler-Correa.
The Firebarn: The Youth Workshop is held in the intimate theater space known as The Firebarn. This historic venue offers a charming and enchanting atmosphere, creating an ideal setting for young performers to showcase their skills and talents. With its rich history and cozy ambiance, The Firebarn provides a truly immersive theatrical experience.
The Workshop Experience: Our aim is to provide a platform for young individuals to explore their passion for performing arts, while also instilling valuable life skills such as teamwork, communication, and self-confidence. Through our annual Youth Workshop, we offer participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of theater production, working alongside experienced actors, directors, and fellow aspiring actors.
Affordability and Professionalism: We understand the importance of making the theater experience accessible to all. That's why we strive to keep our workshop fees affordable, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder young talents from pursuing their dreams. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to discover their creative potential.
